Summary | Juli Camarin | Wednesday, 12 May 2010 Summary of the Book of RomansThe book of Roman is a masterfully written exposition on grace. This letter to the believers in Rome has changed the hearts of many as they read and understand the wonderful truths nestled inside. Paul wrote this letter to these Christians to explain his revelation of grace. Romans 1 covers Paul's introduction to the book of Romans as well as building a case against the entire world that we were guilty before God. The reason for writing the book of Romans was to share the gospel and teach that our righteousness comes by faith in Jesus Christ apart from what we can do to earn it. Romans 2 is written to admonish the Jews that living by the law and circumcision does not make them righteous in God's eyes. This comes as quite a shock, but Paul stresses that living by rules and regulations only brings about judgment and condemnation. Paul concludes that a true Jew is one that has experienced circumcision of the heart by the Spirit of God. Romans 3 completes the accusation that both the Jews ... READMORE |

Romans, Chapter 16 | Juli Camarin | Tuesday, 11 May 2010 Romans 16:25-27 - So That All Nations Might Believe and Obey Him"Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him- to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen" Romans 16:25-27) This book is about grace, how Christ has made us right with God. Believing in Him and accepting this wonderful gift is the only thing it takes on our part. This is the amazing truth that Christ came to this earth to share. The gospel is God's message of love, mercy and grace in the person of Jesus Christ. It is the good news that was hidden in the ages past and unknown until Jesus came to earth, as a man, to show us the love of the Father. Through this word and through the person of Jesus Christ, we can know and understand God in an intimate way. Paul started this letter by declaring that the gospel wa... READMORE |

Romans, Chapter 16 | Juli Camarin | Monday, 10 May 2010 Romans 16:21-24 - Participates in the Gospel of Jesus"Timothy, my fellow worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my relatives. I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord. Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city's director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings. [May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you. Amen.]" (Romans 16:21-24) Except for Timothy, not much detail is given about these men that Paul shared his life with. Several accounts of people with these names are found in the book of Acts, it is possible that these are one and the same. If this is true then it paints a wonderful picture of how the apostle Paul ministered. He would surround himself with converts to Christianity and disciple them in the Lord for several years. Although we do not have much account of their lives we do know that Timothy was in charge of the church at Ephesus after his time with the apostle. ... READMORE |

Romans, Chapter 16 | Juli Camarin | Sunday, 9 May 2010 Romans 16:19-20 - Be Wise about What Is Good, Innocent about what is Evil"Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you" (Romans 16:19-20) God never intended for us to know about evil. In the beginning He made the universe, the world, all living things and mankind. Then He called it good. Evil, sin and corruption never entered the picture until Eve was deceived by Satan. He used her curiosity about evil to trick her into thinking she would be better off if she knew what evil was. The result was disastrous for mankind. As Adam and Eve partook in the tree that God commanded them not to eat of, their eyes were open to the knowledge of good and evil. The rest is history, the result was the universe and everything within it had a working knowledge that both good and evil existed, and we were not the better for it. In today's passage Paul is giving a wonderful key to... READMORE |
